A pair of sequels in X-Men: Apocalypse and Alice Through the Looking Glass led a soft Memorial Day weekend last week and things aren't looking much better this weekend. Paramount is delivering its own sequel this weekend in the form of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows while Warner Bros. targets the romantics among us with Me Before You and Universal's Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which is merely hoping to keep its head above water. Over the past five years, the weekend following Memorial Day has seen an average drop of 18.7% for the top twelve. 'The Flash' Movie Finds New Director With 'Dope' Filmmaker

The Flash has a new director. Just weeks after Warner Bros. parted ways with Seth Grahame-Smith, who was to make his directorial debut with the project, the studio has set another newbie for the gig: Rick Famuyima, who made a splash with his Sundance sensation, Dope. The project will retain Grahame-Smith’s script, which he wrote working off of a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Lego Movie duo who once were eyeing it as a possible directing vehicle.

'Sicario' Sequel Lands Its Director

Italian helmer Stefano Sollima is in talks with Lionsgate to direct the sequel to Sicario. The film will be called Soldado, the Spanish word for soldier, and will center on Benicio Del Toro's character.
